Riding, Golfing, and Giving Back: Why the Fight Against MS Matters to Me
Christopher Young
Every year, I like to take a moment to share something personal—something that drives a lot of the work I do outside the office. Many of you know I’m deeply involved with the Colorado Chapter of the National MS Society, but I don’t always talk about the “why” behind it. Today, I wanted to give a little more insight.
A Cause Close to Home
For several years now, I’ve been fundraising through the Colorado Bike MS 150, an inspiring two-day event that brings nearly 3,000 riders together to travel from Westminster to Fort Collins and back. The sense of community, purpose, and determination at this event is unmatched.
My motivation is personal. On April 17, 2014, my wonderful wife Tonya was diagnosed with MS. That moment changed our lives, and it’s why I’m committed to supporting the MS Society’s mission. If you’re interested in learning more about our journey, I’ve shared our story here (and please don’t feel any pressure to donate): https://events.nationalmssociety.org/participants/ForMyBeautifulWifeTonya
The MS Sucks Annual Golf Tournament
In addition to the ride, I also host an annual Charity Golf Tournament in Longmont—now in its 6th year. This tournament has become a meaningful way for people to come together, enjoy the day, and support an important cause. We still have a few team spots available, and if you’re someone who enjoys golf and giving back, this is a fantastic event to be part of.

Why I Keep Doing This
Fundraising for nonprofits is humbling—every conversation, every donation, and every show of support means more than I can express. And I continue this work because I genuinely believe in the progress the MS Society is making. Their research, advocacy, and support programs are moving us closer to a world where MS no longer impacts families like mine.
Thank you for taking the time to read, learn, and support in whatever way feels right for you. It all makes a difference.
